Chance Me!

GPA: 3.72 Honor roll
ACT: 23 a bit low
Debate-4years
Band- 4 years
LINC (volunteer)-4 years and various other activities

What are the chances of me getting into the U. I applied for CBS and Carlson, just because they are the hardest but I have no idea where I am going. If they are too hard for me to get into, will they put me in college of liberal arts or do they just kick me out.

[Academic Profile](Academic Profile of Fall 2022 Admitted Freshman Applicants by College | Office of Admissions)

0% of admits scored below 24 on the ACT for CBS
0% of admits scored below 24 on the ACT for Carlson

Your GPA and ECs are decent, but that ACT is terrible.

A 23 isn’t “terrible.” It’s low for CBS/Carlson (Why did you apply for those two? They aren’t related in the least) but there’re a few kids in CFANS/CEHD I’ve met who scored in the low 20’s.

Not to be mean, but Carlson or CBS (or CSE, for that matter) probably won’t happen. You’ll automatically get considered for CLA (College of Liberal Arts) and my BEST guess is you’ll get admitted to CLA. They look at your intended major when doing that, and if it’s not in CLA your chances of getting into the U will decrease. I’d put Psychology or English or something down as one of your possible majors so they see potetial fit in CLA. Anyways, you might get waitlisted first, but likely admitted at some point. In that case, kick ass your first year and you can transfer into CBS or CSM.

What is your actual intended major, and why on earth would you apply to certain colleges “just because they are the hardest?” You said you have no idea where you’re going, but you must have some very vague idea, I mean biology and business are very different things.

As for your chances, everything looks good except for that ACT, it may be the game breaker. I don’t like to be the bearer of bad news, but it probably will. There are many factors though, like when did you apply, how rigorous was your high school schedule, and anything else like that.

You DO have a chance of getting into CLA, although your best bet is the college of “Education & Human Development” with an average ACT of 24.4. You should take a look at this:

Should I call them and let them know that I wanna change the college?

^ I’d try to if it’s not too late… not sure if they’ll let you but its worth a shot.
