Your GPA and SAT are both considerably low for the UC system…

I’d say you might have a shot at UCI because of your status as a first generation and minority student…you have some solid EC’s too which is good to see. It’s a small chance.

It’s a definite no for Business Administration or any Engineering though…just my thoughts.

Before I say anything let me say this; there is always hope!

I’m a 4th year at UCI working towards my B.S. Civil Engineering. I transferred in Fall 2010.

I’m assuming you’re coming out of High school and not transferring. I believe the stats from UCI’s website states that the average GPA for incoming freshman is 3.8, and transfers is 3.0. Your SAT scores are a little below average if you’re looking to get into any Science / Engineering major. However, if you’re more towards the Humanities / Social Sciences you may stand a chance, (again, there is still always hope).

Speaking as an Engineering student, ITS HIGHLY COMPETITIVE! I consider myself average amongst the engineering students, (at least within the Civil Engineering department). UCI has a lot of smart students, and they recruit a lot of smart students. Whether or not you do / don’t get in, don’t let that detour you from giving 100% towards your academic career!

And last piece of advice…once you get to whatever college your going to, GET INVOLVED! Talk to professors, grad students, clubs, organizations, research!

Best of luck!

Doesn’t matter what we all have to say. Keep faith.
