I think you need to get your test scores up. UNC tries to make a holistic decision but those scores can really hold you back… being an URM/all-star athelete will probably help though.

I suggest retaking the test (maybe try the ACT if your more ‘science-minded’) and getting a new chance. As it stands you have a pretty low chance of admission OOS. It’s brutally competitive.

Yeah man, there’s no way in hell you’re getting in with a 2390 SAT. You haven’t taken enough APs either. Focus on getting more academically stable, then you might have a chance at the waitlist.

You made decent scores on the math and critical reading sections, but you’re going to need to boost that writing score if you want any chance whatsoever. And I’m going to disagree with TWNeal…I think you’ve actually taken too many AP classes. UNC likes “salt of the earth” applicants, well-rounded learners who are just as good with their hands as they are with a calculator. So scrap Calculus BC for metalworking if you want them to even consider your application.

I can’t promise that following my advice will get you admitted, but maybe they’ll at least bother to read your essays this way. Remember: it’s not personal, it’s OOS.

I realize that my stats are higher than the average student at UNC, but I am very poor and cannot afford many schools. I want to know if I can get in on scholarship, I already have 20,000 in scholarship money.

Also, thanks for the response. I do play Varsity Cross-Country too. Does that or football help out at all?

UNC usually covers 100% of need in both awards and loans. Being poor is actually going to help you a lot more than it will hurt you because you’ll get more awards and you’ll be able to pay more later instead of now. Assuming you get a good job after college, paying for UNC should not be a problem, especially if you’re in-state.
