What are my chances at UCSB?

I’d say pretty good if you are in state. As advice for any rising senior, do your absolute best at grades this semester, it is very important to keep your grades up. Any chance of turning that B into an A this semester? Also, even though not technically required anymore, be sure to take the SAT subject tests. Get help on your essays, too!
One thing that stands out to me is your paid work experience, I’d spend at least one of your essays talking about how learning the value of money (or whatever reason you work for pay) is important to you and your family.

What is your cumulative GPA? Mine is 3.91 with 1850 SAT and empty EC section. I got in. So if anything, you’re good to go. Just don’t mess up senior year with a D or a F

Edit: I didn’t take ANY subject test

Here’s the thing. UC decisions were VERY random this year, for me and for my friends. I had friends get into UCLA/Cal and not into UCSB/UCD.

You seem to have a great shot at UCSB but you never really know. I’m sure next year’s decisions will be as random, if not more, as this year. I have friends who were well qualified for UCSB so there really aren’t any guarantees here. Write good essays and do well this semester though. I’m not trying to be negative here, just being honest. If the UC’s were a little less random, you’d definitely be in. Good luck!

I might’ve seen you at the deca conference lol

I would apply to ALL the UC’s and some privates. Son had 4.2 GPA and 1900 SAT, only got into UC Irvine and Santa Cruz…which he loves, but…it is really tough getting in as they are taking $$$$$people from out-of-state and international!
