Hi guys, could you chance me for Claremont McKenna?

Stats:

International Student from Pakistan.
Not applying for aid
SAT I: 1410 - 750 CR, 660 M
GPA: not calculated at my school but if it were it'd be 3.87 UW
GCSEs: 11 A's
Class Rank: Again not calculated, per se. Was 8/176 in the GCSE results at my school. Definitely top 10% if not Top 5%.
My school sends a great deal of people to Ivies and other top universities each year. This year we had Princeton, Duke, Northwestern, Brown, Middlebury, amongst others. Last year, we had Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, Penn, Dartmouth, Cornell, Chicago, Vanderbilt, etc.
Essay: I topped in my school in English Language, and I won the award for best essay writer so I think they'll be reasonably good, hopefully.
Recs: Will be very good, fingers crossed

oh and I’ve just retaken the SAT. Hopefully, a much better score.

What are your ECs?

I’m President of the Drama Club, Lead Role in the Play, done 3 years of debating, won numerous tournaments, shortlisted for national team, MUNs nationally and internationally, won the best english declamation speaker and parliamentary debator awards at school. I’ve been a regular freelancer for a national newspaper for the past year. Chief Editor of literary magazine.
on the school tennis team this year.

I think you are in! CMC doesn’t provide a lot of fin aid for internationals; so, they need people who can pay. Plus you are a strong applicant even without considering your ability to pay.

Thanks a lot! If its not too much to ask, what do you think about my chances for Pomona, Amherst, Washington and Lee, Carleton, Middlebury, Hamilton, Colby?

m sat score with writing is 2070.

SAT scores might be a little low for Pomona and Amherst. CMC, I believe, tends to be a bit more generous if you show good leadership potential in extracurricular activities.

just a heads up, CMC is very unlike the other schools on your list in some key ways - yes, they’re all liberal arts-y, but keep in mind that CMC is liberal arts going hand in hand with specialization, which is not something you’re going to find at schools like pomona, amherst, etc. i think CMC’s uniqueness is what makes it so beloved by those who go there (hence being ranked happiest college multiple times) but it also means it’s not for everyone. anyway, what this has to do with chancing is that as a result of CMC being such a unique school, they look for particular applicants that aren’t just good students but who are a really good match for CMC. how good of a fit CMC is for you is gonna be a much more important factor in its admissions than you would find at a lot of other schools. if CMC is really what you want, be sure to show and tell that in your application.

Pomona and Amherst are reaches for everyone, and, to be honest, as of now you will most likely get rejected than accepted, so I’d say 10% Pomona (just because they are need-aware of intls) and 5% Amherst
Washington and Lee, Carleton, Middlebury are hard to get in as well, but here you have a decent chance, probably 50% with W&L and Carleton and 25 with Midd
Hamilton and Colby are nice matches, you are in at Hamilton and 70% in at Colby.
Sorry if I was a bit harsh but I just wanted to be honest. If I were you, I would probably add Pitzer(seems like you love Claremont Colleges), Colgate(near Hamilton and probably even slightly better), Bates/Bowdoin (bowdoin is very prestigious and hard to get in, but I think you stand a chance) and probably Wesleyan if you like the vibe there

yeah I was thinking about Bowdoin, Bates and Wesleyan. Probably will do Bowdoin. Might do one of the other two. Re: Pitzer, I do love Pomona and CMC, but Pitzer seems slightly more… alternative? I guess. Not that Im a jock or preppy at all.

what about Macalester, Richmond, or Bucknell?

Sorry for taking so long to reply. These are nice matches! I can’t see you get rejected from any of them. But your college choice seems a bit random. What exactly are you looking for?

Haha, I was scoping out potential schools. Out of these, I’m applying to Pomona, Mac, CMC, Midd, Carleton and Amherst.

Oh, just an update regarding my scores. I got a 2290/1490.

I’m assuming you are from Aitchison?
