Take the ACT again. While your score is pretty good, you can probably do better.

My son raised his ACT from a 31 to a 34, with no studying.

Mere familiarity with the exam will likely lead to a higher score.

Even raising your score to a 32 should help.

@florida, thanks
I’m taking it in September again… hopefully I will do better.

If you do ED you should be fine considering you’re high GPA + class rank, and your ACT score is still in the middle 50% percentile (29-33). Just show a bit of interest, which applying ED already does but maybe visit if you can (I’m assuming you’re from around Atlanta), and you should have a solid shot. Unless you’re going for Emory Scholars then ur ACT score is fine (and even if you are your ECs seem a bit weak unless you’ve had at least a few leadership roles).

@college thanks,
I’m just applying as a regular student. I’ll be sure to visit over the summer. Thanks.

I think applying regular decision with a 30 is very questionable unless you have a great “hook.” Even if you improve your ACT/SAT scores, if you look at the regular admittance and wait listed threads, students with better ACT/SAT scores were wait listed. If you really want to go to Emory then apply ED1.

I ment to say I’m applying Early decision as a regular student - not a emory scholar or anything.

Great…make sure you apply ED1, because ED2 appears to be more competitive. Try to improve those ACT scores, demonstrate lots of interest! Good luck!
