This is my first Chance thread anywhere on here, so I'll probably be missing something.

Is ED required? What similar schools should I consider applying to?

I think you have an excellent chance. Demonstrate interest - reach out to your regional admissions person & try go visit, it’s a great school.

You will have many great school options, but don’t bother with them - jk what size school do you want, how far from TX and expereince? You should retake the SATs in Oct.- your scores are good but the next bump up could put you in the band for merit scholarship for several schools. A 3 hr test for a nice scholarship - which then you can put on your resume- everyone respects a winner!

I’m preferably looking for a small Liberal Arts School. Other schools I have looked at include Hendrix, L&C, Whitman, and Grinnell. I’ll try to retake the SAT. Preferably not in Texas or close to it. Nice weather / scenery / cuisine is a definite plus.

Is it necessary to stay over-night or would a quick few-hour tour around campus suffice? I can’t really miss any more class than I already am, due to a specific tutoring program I volunteer at, which I also forgot to mention on there.

You are looking at very different schools with very different student bodies. You may not need to stay overnight, but stay long enough to get a feel for the school and students.

I don’t know all your schools, but I know Grinnell and Elon. Grinnell is more intensely academic and as far as I know- all liberal arts. The students tend toward the hippy-ish. Elon is not as academically competitive, has lots of business and comm majors and a preppier student body. There are certainly exceptions to what I’ve said and they are both good schools- but are SO different.

10 AP’s and a GPA 3.81 Weighted ???
Are you getting all C’s or do you mean 3.81 unweighted? That would make a big difference in financial aid.
