Im an URM, but I don't think that really helps as much as people think it does
Thank you for any replies

I think being a URM can help. Sure, you still have to be qualified, but if you are on the bubble of a yes/no, it can definitely help.

3.5 is hardly “very low”, and same with the ACT/SAT. Those are all solid stats. Good with AP courses also. Looks like decent community service.

Not sure if you have visited campus or otherwise made it clear how interested you are in Tulane, if you really are. If they think you really want to be there, you have at least a 50-50 chance I would think, maybe a bit better. Of course that is based only what you tell us, there are things we cannot see.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. I guess what we think about gpa is relative. It seems like every gpa that I see on here is a 4.2 or above so I felt like I was at the bottom of the barrel. Then again, it could be that the type of students that are drawn CC forums are mostly the high-achieving ones.

wrong, my UW gpa was a 3.4 but my act was a 33. I have learnt that they really do look at the app holistically and was accepted with $. Can i ask how come you decided to apply RD instead of EA? Where you simply not ready in time?

Good luck!

My counselor had told us the ED and EA were more selective, which later I found out to be false I’ve been regretting not applying EA ever since

Well technically i believe that the EA applications were extended until tonight (not sure if thats for north east applicants only). So if you have everything set and done maybe you should consider sending it off with in the next hour or if not do it within the next week and tell you regional admissions counselor what happened and maybe they will consider you for EA???

Im sure fallen could give you a more informed answer about different options.

I need more replies.

Again,
Did you end up applying EA? or did you miss the deadline and are applying RD?
I know you want more replies but in reality we can only speculate to whether or not you will be accepted. You have a pretty good gpa and are right in the in the middle 50% for act (28-32). One can only speculate but it seems like you definitely have a shot.

Chance threads usually are fairly useless, actually. I don’t want to rain on anyone’s fun, but what difference does it make if someone tells you that you will get accepted, or someone tells you that you won’t? They cannot really know, and the process will go forward anyway and you will get the real answer eventually.

The biggest benefit is when someone is way off the mark with re3gard to the match of their stats and the school(s) in question and should be applying to a different level school, or when you can get decent advice like showing interest in the school, etc. In your case you are definitely within the range for Tulane, as you can see form some of the acceptances that have been posted with fairly similar stats. Any other postings on here will tell you nothing more that is definitive.
