Hi there I've been looking at this site for quite a while and want a little bit of advice with some of the admissions info that some of you might know.

Well here are my stats.
Unweighted G.P.A 3.48 Weighted: 4.57 UCF Recalculated: 3.7
Pretty good essay.

ILovethe47_ Your post can tend to be pretty rude, if I’m being honest. There’s no need to be so unpleasant to josh, and criticize and imply that he shouldn’t have gotten into UCF. Just because his stats aren’t as high as others, by no means, means he ‘slide in the back door’. Maybe UCF is beginning to wise up and realize that many of the ‘top students’ they accept actually end up on academic probation first semester, because they don’t know how to study-mainly because high school came easy to them. I’m in my third semester here, and have noticed that all those students with lower stats (Like myself) that got into UCF are holding 3.4-3.6 GPA’s. If you’re going to be rude, no one will take your posts seriously or want to hear from you. Thanks.

OP-As stated by josh, who actually does know a bit what he’s talking about, you’re in for Summer. I also believe you shouldn’t have problems with fall. Just stay on top of them, and make sure they have everything:)

^^^
WOW-
Talking about sliding in the back door; you have no standing on this point.
Anyways, glad to hear that you are doing well @ UCF and congrats on your achievements so far.
Keep up the good work.

Actually, YOU have no stand point on this. If anything, by words are more valid then yours because I was in the same position as Josh. I suggest to think before you speak, because you’re just making yourself look like a fool. I’m honestly done seeing your post, they contribute nothing and only start issues.

This is a site for college level minds. There’s absolutely no need for childish bickering. To the OP, you have the minority card, great discipline oriented ecs, first gfneration college student and, most of all, great grades and scores. My weighted was a 3.3 with a 1240 SAT. Not stellar by any means. I did have Eagle Scout which I think helped me with my Fall acceptance. I’ll see you Fall.

Well that escalated rather quickly… thanks for all the input though!
Is there anything I can do to speed up the process though? I’ve been waiting for some time now…

I’m not saying 47 was right for what they said, but WRITE you have no right to start talking down on top students saying how they’ll be put on academic probation. It’s lovely that you were able to survey the entire UCF population to find out that all “low” stat students have 3.3-3.6 GPAs.

I agree you should Email Mr. Gordon Chavis…but I don’t agree with people looking down on others just because their stats weren’t as better as others. In the end stats don’t mean a thing after you’ve been accepted. There’s no such thing as “sliding in the back door”, we’re accepted because we deserve it, nothing less.

^^^^I agree for the admissions process…But if both those students get in, it doesn’t really matter, the straight A person is no better than the straight B.

Hopefully the US Supreme Court will correct public colleges admissions selection process…

Affirmative action began when Abigail Fisher was denied admission to the University of Texas, she says, because of admission policies that favor less-qualified minorities. Her simple argument is to stop using skin color in college admissions.

“Well it’s about time…My son was accepted at Cornell and Northwestern but he desperately want to go to University of North Carolina…He was devastated when his rejection letter came…I was shocked that Cornell and N.W. would accept this 4.0 student athlete and UNC could reject him…I got on the phone and demanded answers…I was finally connected with the dean of admission and he looked it up to see if it was a mistake…finally he came back and told me my county already had filled all the white males it could accept!!..I was livid and I told him I was going to the press with this…He said go ahead , it was the law!..Like I have always said…REAL racism has always come from the left……” ( source unknown)

Niquii-I did not state once that it applies to ALL top students. However, from MY experience here at UCF, much more then half of the individuals I know who achieved 4.0’s during High School are currently on academic probation. Sorry for not clarifying.
