Chance Me!!

I am applying to Cornell HumEc, Human Biology Health and Society Major

SAT II: 790 Physics, 710 Math I
2 Completed APs: Physics B (5) and U.S. History (5)
6 In Progress APs: English Lit&Comp, Chemistry, Physics C Mechanics, Biology, Calculus AB and European History
All other classes, honours/enriched and straight As (we don't use GPA)

ECs
Service club, done a lot of volunteer work at seniors homes, youth programs etc...
Recreational Cross Country and Squash
Peer Tutoring
School leadership - Academic Captain in dormitory (I go to a boarding school)
Art, Model UN, Philosophy Club, youth group - member, but not leader/founder

Acievements/Awards
Most academic stuff, scholarships/bursaries etc...

Essays
Common App essay was okay, the story was good but it wasn't "beautifully" written
Cornell supplement was good
References were good, I have had both teachers for more than one year so they know me well.

Financial Aid
I am applying for financial aid, and I am a Canadian student. I probably require $30,000 to $35,000 in aid.

Other
Caucasian, Male, no family or relatives at Cornell or other Ivey leagues, haven't visited but I have a friend who attends Cornell

What do you think? I feel that my financial need will hurt me a lot, especially since I am an international student. But from what I hear, HumEc is easier to get into. Anyone know?

I’m pretty sure Cornell only looks at your CR+M scores, which is very unfortunate for you. I’m sorry about that.

Indicating that you need shouldn’t hurt you as Cornell is need-blind for everyone. (But not needs met for all internationals).

Cornell is probably a reach for you due to the weird SAT policy that Cornell has.

Anyways, best of luck!
