However...I'm quite clueless about college applications so I was wondering what are the chances of me getting into Duke, and what kind of colleges would be suitable for me??
thanks in advance

You have a great chance at Duke, but it is a reach for almost everyone. It will all boil down to your recs and essays, which need to be cogent, consistent, honest, and focused.

Without knowing your major, it would be hard to find comparable schools for you. But based on your stats, you have a chance at the Ivies, even if they are reaches for almost everyone. Also look at Notre Dame, NYU, UVa, UCLA, Berkeley, U of M.

Thanks bubbles I’m planning on doing either Law or Economics

bummmmppp :)

Wow, I feel like I’m looking into a mirror. Well, except for the fact that I don’t do IB. And the fact that I live in Australia now (though I’m still a kiwi at heart). …And also the fact that I don’t have any of the extra-curriculars or achievements that you do (with the exception of a lot of high distinctions in ICAS and a prize in the Australian Mathematics Competition). Okay, we have nothing in common.

In all seriousness, though, you seem pretty well-rounded, which is apparently something US universities like. I guess it’s still the luck of the draw where competitive universities are concerned, though. If you’re looking at law, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Columbia, the University of Chicago, and New York University have the most reputable law schools.

What Australian universities are you applying to?

Great score for first attempt. If you can bump up your CR score further, you can get CR+M over 1500 to have a better chance. You may consider Cornell as well if you are interested in Ivies.
