[/ul]General Comments:
Sorry if its a long list. I tried to remain as varied as possible (reach-match-safety) and I think some of these would be ok but I was hoping to get some outside opinions. Any response or critique is encouraged...

Thanks in advance and I will chance back

Youshould have no problem getting into carroll

I forgot to add that I’m a paid SAT/Math tutor for three different kids

High match to low reach for UM Ross.

Overall I think you have great credentials to get into these awesome schools. Obviously you have a greater change of getting into schools, imo, Maryland and Pennstate but I think you have a decent shot at Cornell

tbh, I am only familiar with schools and their chances in the deep south and southwest…

amazing apps though!

Cornell (Dyson or CAS)- Medium reach
Northwestern (CAS)- Medium/reach
Georgetown (McDonough)- Low/Medium Reach/Reach
University of Virginia (McIntire) -In/ Low reach- They generally are more open to the instate/surrounding states but I’m sure a NY kid would add diversity! Check out their scholarships btw!
North Carolina- Chapel Hill (Kenan-Flagler)- Low/ Medium reach because they mostly accept in state students. Great business program though!!! Best public program there is. But out of states are generally scrutinized more.
Boston College (Carroll)-In- My friend is going there and we went to see the campus= Heaven on earth.
Villanova (School of Business)- Low Reach/ in
University of Pennsylvania (Wharton)- Reach, for everyone that school is a reach, especially Whartons
University of Maryland-College Park (Smith) - I am not sure, never heard of it.
Penn State (Smeal) -In!
University of Michigan (Ross) -In (great school for education! Best in the nation actually!)

Thanks. I appreciate you telling me what you know about the schools that you’re familiar with. Hopefully a couple other people will be able to chime in on the others.

As far as Penn State and Maryland go, those were my two safeties that my guidance counselor recommended. I kind of have my own opinion on where these schools are with respect to my stats but I feel like posting that can obstruct others opinions in addition to being either overly modest or arrogant.

Any other opinions would be awesome. A simple reach/match/safety next to the name of the school is fine too!

@ dannyphantom… Thanks for such an extensive response! I loved BCs campus too. It is in such great proximity to the city and I love Boston as a whole. I definitely understand the opinion about the state schools and hopefully I have a chance at either of them as they both seem great as to what I’m looking for.

As for Wharton, yeah… that’s my most outlandish reach but the quality of business education there is too good not to apply to!

Any other opinions would be awesome

@ccjunior1 sorry if I offended you with my post, this is my first day on CC and I am not familiar with northern schools so my observations are irrelevant. Overall, you have great chances with your stats.

I was never offended! I was thanking you for the incite you could provide and merely asking for anyone else to chime in on the schools that you have little knowledge of… Sorry if that might have come off wrong at first.

But yeah, I’m in no way offended and really appreciate your feedback.

Further chancing from anyone else would be great. Thanks a lot

Cornell (Dyson or CAS) - Reach
Northwestern (CAS) - Reach
Georgetown (McDonough) - Reach
University of Virginia (McIntire) - Match
North Carolina- Chapel Hill (Kenan-Flagler) - Match
Boston College (Carroll) - Match
Villanova (School of Business) - Low Match
University of Pennsylvania (Wharton) - Reach
University of Maryland-College Park (Smith) - Low Match
Penn State (Smeal) - Low Match
University of Michigan (Ross) - Low Reach

I’d say you have a fairly good chance at all of these schools, some obviously more than others. You have great stats and great school/community involvement. Gaining business experience this summer as you mentioned is key, especially if you want to make yourself out to be a business major and if applying to UPenn Wharton. At this point, there is not much you can do to improve your stats in terms of ECs, because joining anything now would look suspicious. Just make sure to write awesome essays and get awesome recommendations. Good luck! And thanks for chancing me :)

Thanks for chancing me btw!!! And I think you have a good chance at all of these schools! My tip for you is that you apply to Cornell EA if you are really into that school, and write essays that show your passion. Do these things and you are golden!
