Yeah, to be honest, I’d be more than happy if I got into any of my reaches. I’d be incredibly happy if I got into Georgetown, Cornell, UPenn, UVA, etc.

Good applicant. Maybe add some more extra curriculars to make it a diverse list. Can your weighted GPA go over 100?

Unfortunately I don’t think I have enough time left in my schedule to even get it to a 99 (Unless I got 100’s for the rest of this quarter). I’m only aware of two kids in my grade that have averages over a 100 and they’re both likely to attend HYPSM. However, my school routinely sends strong applicants to Top 25 schools. For example, we have 9 seniors this year alone who have been accepted to Cornell out of the typical class size of about 275. Considering I think I’m within the top 10, I’m probably psyching myself out in saying I have at least a decent shot.

My school also has a good repore with other universities like BC and Georgetown so I have my fingers crossed.

As far as extracurriculars go, I don’t really have too many options between now and application time. School clubs are finishing up this year (I was just recently invited to my school’s NHS) and I have my two internships over the Summer.

Other than a couple of small things here and there, my SAT II’s and remaining APs are the only significant factors (excluding essays and recommendations) that can significantly affect my chances with regard to admissions.

If anyone has any ideas off the top of their heads about an extracurricular I can do over the Summer which could help my with regard to business, that’d be great! Further chancing always welcome

Cornell, Northwestern, UPenn are the only ones i cant see you getting into. Possibly Georgetown, that will be close. Good luck!

Yeah I understand they can be a bit of a reach. Like I said, I’m trying to strike a balance of reach, low reach, high match, etc among schools that I think really fit me. Like anyone else, selectivity is a huge factor and it seems to be a common trend for a person to apply to the most selective school that fits their needs as their first choice. However, ED/EA/REA/RD does, as I’m sure most people know, play a huge factor in admissions difficulty. As of know, its kind of a toss-up for me.

If any of you who are familiar with my top schools could chime in as to whether I should apply ED/EA/REA to them, you’d really be helping me out. Thanks so much.

(If you could chance me too, that’d be great as well)

ED is big at Northwestern. I wouldnt apply early to georgetown or cornell. Possibly UPenn but i think it is to big of a reach and u will be wasting your ed. My suggestion would be ED Northwestern.

i think you have very good chances at a lot of these schools… i feel that you might wanna break 2200 on ur SAT’s if you decide to send those… even without that your gpa is amazing giving you a solid shot… your ecs are so-so… but i think interning with a local business is very good and will help you a lot as well as your community service… most schools i think youre set for… upenn wharton, uva (just cuz ur out of state), and ross, are the only schools in the low reach - reach bracket for you.

Thanks! I actually forgot to mention that, as of this year, I’ve been on a club baseball team too (just if that might influence ECs). Also, as I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, I’m somewhat surprised that you didn’t include Georgetown and Cornell in the ‘low reach-reach bracket’. If you honestly don’t think so, I appreciate the fact that you think I’m a strong applicant. I’m just curious to hear your reasoning.

Thanks a lot and more chancing would be great. I’m just happy I’ve had this many responses.

I had very similar stats to you (same state, same school type, many same aps, etc.). The only major differences is that you have a higher SAT and I’m Asian. so based on my admission results, here are the chances:

Cornell (Dyson or CAS): reach
Northwestern (CAS): low reach
Georgetown (McDonough): low reach
University of Virginia (McIntire): reach
North Carolina- Chapel Hill (Kenan-Flagler): match
Boston College (Carroll): match
Villanova (School of Business): low match
University of Pennsylvania (Wharton): high reach - chances are pretty low here
University of Maryland-College Park (Smith): high safety
Penn State (Smeal): high safety
University of Michigan (Ross): reach

Also, I suggest that if you are thinking about doing ED, do ED to Northwestern or Georgetown. You should also look into applying to NYU Stern which is great for your major (if you really don’t want to stay in New York, then never mind).

You probably can’t be admitted directly into Ross (UMich) as it is very competitive and your score is just slightly above average for UMich, but you are a match for LSA and you may try to get into Ross the next year.

@ Donald203, I’d love to apply early to Northwestern but, geographically speaking, its pretty far out of my focus (I’d prefer to stay on the east coast and especially in the northeast). I still have a great deal of respect for the school and I feel like I can get used to the Chicago area and that’s why I’d still love to apply and its one of my top choices. Stern, on the other hand, fits my criteria, but its about a 20 minute train-ride from where I live and I’d really like to be at least a 2 hour drive away to discourage constant weekend visits back home.
Also, considering you said that our stats are similar and that you can compare your results to mine, would you mind sharing?

@billcsho, Michigan, like Northwestern, is pretty far out of my preferred “sphere” and I feel like Ross would be awesome to get into (again, like Northwestern), but I don’t know very much about LSA and I feel like I’d prefer to stick to the business track and just risk the comparatively more competitive admissions situation in Ross.

More chancing would be awesome. Thanks for the insight so far though. This is really helping me out!

Great chances! Nice ECs, and everything else! Just make sure the essays are good and show who you are, as many people have gotten rejected in the past because of bad essays even though they had good scores. Good luck!

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1439775-chance-me.html

Thanks. I know they’re gonna have to be great. I’ll be taking my time in writing them over the summer and I know that fit is a huge component and I’ll be sure to address it (its obviously more prevalent for me in some colleges more than others).

(I chanced you back btw)
