Chance me!!

I know the only 100% way of knowing if you can get in to a school is by applying, but I would really like to know if Gettysburg is in my reach. Here are my stats:

female
Av. HS GPA: 4.75 out of 5.0 scale

Sat Scores: CR: 630 Math: 620 Writing:630 Total Score:1880
What I hope to get on the October SAT: CR: 670 Math: 660 Writing 670 Total Score:2000
Would the second set of scores greatly increase my chances?

Activities:
-National Honor Society
-National Science Honor Society
-75 hours of community service (by the time I apply)
-6 years of classical voice training from voice teacher
-member of prestigious choir for four years
-2 years of yearbook club

I plan on being a double major in college: general psychology and vocal performance
I don't want to brag but I suppose this is important to have an accurate "chance me" reply. I am rather talented in the vocal department, and have a rather mature voice for 17. I am a classical singer and am really interested in Gettysburg's conservatory. Could my voice help me a lot in getting into this college? Thank you so much for taking the time to evaluate me for this college, I truly appreciate it, thank you.

I am not sure this makes much of a difference, but I also have won a religion award for character.

I’d say Gettysburg is a bit of a reach for you. Your (current) SAT scores are below the average. And, you seem to lack any leadership role(s) like president or captain of something.

However, if your voice really sets you apart, I urge you to visit Gettysburg and demonstrate your interest. That matters to them. Meet with a member of the vocal performance faculty. Ask about the audition process, or something. If you show Gettysburg the love, they might show it back. And, if you really raise your scores as you hope, then you’ll be in great shape.

Good luck.

Another important consideration is if you would need any financial assistance to attend Gettysburg. If you, or your family, are ready to write the whole check, you have a fairly good chance to get in. If you are needing substantial assistance it is less likely. Do your interview and visit and inquire about the audition process, a strong recommendation from the conservatory program will count for something. Best of luck to you!

Gettysburg is not an impossible choice for you. Your current SAT (CR& Math) are a bit below the Class of 2016 profile of 1293 average for CR & Math. You are not far off so you could possibly pull up the scores. If you pull them up to the second set of scores you mention that would help you a great deal.

Gettysburg is a test optional school. You should look at their test optional policy. You would not be eligible for any merit awards so take that into consideration.

It would be worth your time (if you and your parents can swing it) to visit the school, have an admissions interview and make contact with the folks in the Conservatory. Showing interest in the school is important.
