My parents think that I won't be able to get in. I somewhat believe them after seeing the new stats. If you think that I have no chance, just say it. Don't tell me to retake anything, this what I will show up on GT application.

You’re instate, so I wouldn’t say you have no chance. If going through the college process has taught me anything, it’s that no one, NO ONE AT ALL, can be 100% sure that they will get in, or not get in somewhere. I had friends with stellar stats got rejected from mediocre institutions, and then some with far less than stellar, get into Ivy Leagues. Definitely apply, you never know what could happen. Focus a great deal on your essay, since that is usually what makes/breaks and application. Definitely talk about working in a lab, since that’s very impressive, especially if you had fun and learned things.

You look like a bright applicant, but I won’t lie, you’re up against some hard students, some of the best in the world. After GTech goes live on the Common App next year, the competition is going to heat up. Truthfully, being Asian and male won’t be in your favor, but being instate will, so at the end of the day, send in that application, and keep your first quarter grades high for Senior year.

It’s getting harder to get into GT.Your GPA and SAT are good but you are low on the AP’s.
So, I will not tell you to retake anything but I think your chances would go up if you took the ACT and it was higher than your SAT. Also I see you are taking the Math Subject test is there any another SAT subject test that you could too? and did you take any AP classes
in 10th or 11th grade.

I will only be taking Math II, since I know the GT doesn’t require them in the first place. 10th grade: AP world AP psych, 11th grade: Calc BC, AP lang, AP Macro, AP Chemistry. 5 on ap psych, 3 on ap world. DOn’t have results for this year yet.

OK, your stats look at lot better with 6 AP’s added to the ones you are taking next year so now you are in the range for the # of AP’s the kids that got in this year have. I think you have a really good chance. Make sure and send all your AP scores because even though they are optional they do look at them and if you get good scores then it will help.

You’ll get in. Just make sure to whole ass the essays. Also, I’m pretty sure that being in-state helps: I contacted the admissions director about a year ago and asked if in-state status is considered and he gave the non-answer of “GT had the same proportion of IS vs. OOS in 2012 as it did in 2011”, which indicated to me that they do but they try to avoid talking about or emphasizing it.

Would be more worthwhile to retake SAT and get 2200. Or get an 800 on Math II. Gatech says they consider AP scores and Subject Tests now, my AP scores are decent, all 5’s and 1 4. I feel that 40 points isnt that much. And getting a 800 on Math II would strengthen my app way more, what do you guys think?

I’ts great that you got good scores on the AP exams. Remember GT no longer recalculates gpa. They are going with whatever your school submits. I think an 800 of the Math II or even a little lower score than 800 would help.

Yeah, I don’t know why people were saying you have no chance. You’re instate and all your scores are above average. I’m betting you’ll get in. Just make sure you show why you belong at Tech in your essays.
