I know the only 100% way of knowing if you can get in to a school is by applying, but I would really like to know if Fordham is in my reach. Here are my stats:

female
Av. HS GPA: 4.75 out of 5.0 scale

Sat Scores: CR: 630 Math: 620 Writing:630 Total Score:1880
What I hope to get on the October SAT: CR: 670 Math: 660 Writing 670 Total Score:2000
Would the second set of scores greatly increase my chances?

I plan on being a double major in college: general psychology and vocal performance
I don't want to brag but I suppose this is important to have an accurate "chance me" reply. I am rather talented in the vocal department, and have a rather mature voice for 17. Could my voice help me a lot in getting into this university? Thank you so much for taking the time to evaluate me for this college, I truly appreciate it, thank you.

The B.A music program, which is excellent, “is an academically oriented one, aimed at liberal arts students who would like to study the history of music as a humanistic discipline,” but there’s no B.F.A. performance program for voice. There are, however, several a Capella and choral groups on campus, so you would be able to practice and perform at your leisure.

You’re almost in the 75th percentile for SAT scores at Fordham, which means that getting a 2000+ would be helpful, but your score is still fairly good for Fordham. Your gpa is good too. Make sure your essay is very good, and possible get some more impressive community service hours. 75 is low.

Your stats are good for Fordham. The GPA is great but the SAT is not excellent- so overall I think your stats are good. Your SAT is not even bad.

A compelling Essay is worth more than you’d think though. With your stats, write a top notch one and I am sure you are in.

point of order:

Usually the term “75th percentile” means the top 75th percentile pool, meaning you are in the top 25th of all SAT scores. The term “25th percentile” means the bottom 25th of the pool of applicants.

The Total SAT score of 1880 is good but not excellent by today’s Fordham admission stats. Your core score of 1250 was a true winner 5 years ago, but now its on the bubble a bit as Fordham reaches for a mean score of 1300.

What will Fordham Admissions do? You have outstanding extracurriculars. You have a very good gpa. You seem well rounded and balanced. I lean in favor of admission, but of course all responses here are conjecture and nobody here works on the admissions committee.

Fordham has an outstanding psychology department. Pair that major with something in social services/community service and you have a sure winner! You should not come to Fordham for voice performance as it doesnt exist (I dont think it even exists at Lincoln Center.) But Fordham does have a wonderful traveling Fordham Choir, and acapella group, as previously mentioned.

When applying to colleges always apply to at least 8-10 schools. Two reach, four match and two safety (relative to YOUR scores and how they match the admissions stats of those schools, not what others tell you.)

Fordham is a rigorous academic school. If admitted, come prepared to work hard. Good luck to you.
