Chance Me?

So I go to a very difficult Private High School in Cleveland Ohio. I hope to make my way into the media industry someday and I firmly believe this school would be very beneficial in that regard. Here is aprt of my resume and thank you very much:

GPA: 3.9
ACT: 27 (30 EN, 28 MA, 25 SC, 24 CR, 10 Essay)
SAT: 1910 (570 CR, 660 MA, 680 WR, 10 Essay)
AP: US History (3) English Language (4)
SAT II: US History 660

Classes: Mostly the standard courses. I would have taken more AP courses but at the end of my sophomore year I received a concussion and missed the last month of school. Everyone therefore strongly recommended I just take the regular courses rather than pursue the AP and Honors courses.
English: 9, 10, 11, Art and Craft of Writing, AP Revenge and Justice (Literature) (Took AP Language test in 11th grade even though I did not take the class and got a 4. Will take Literature test Senior year)
History: 9, 10, 11, Strategy Diplomacy and War, The Civil War and Reconstruction Era, Cuban History (Took APUSH test even though I was not in the class and scored a 4)
Math: Algebra 1, Geometry Accelerated, Algebra 2
Science: Bio 9, Chem, Honors Physics
Latin: 3 Years

Thank you very much. Honesty is appreciated and if you have any ways of improving my resume, please tell me how i can do so. Thanks.

ACT and SAT are a little low, given your formidable GPA. Consider re-taking one or both.
But great extracurriculars! Do some community service activities, if you haven’t already, and include those when you apply as well.
With your APs and language (Latin) experience, you will potentially be able to omit or test out of a few requirements depending on which degree and/or major you decide on.
Visit campus and have an interview, if possible. The interviews have been crucial in the past.
Best of luck.

It seems to me unlikely you will be accepted with a CR score below 600. Work on that!

is it a bonus at Hillsdale that my mom is an alumni?

“fencersmother” is correct, CR is a reflection of a crucial skill at Hillsdale because every student (regardless of major) must spend much of the core reading and discerning the great books of the Western heritage plus the U.S. Constitution. CR is also easily the portion of the SAT that Hillsdale-bound students perform the best on; average is roughly 630-740. Do your best to improve.

But yes, alumni legacies are a bonus at Hillsdale.

It might be helpful that mom is an alum… IF mom has been a donor over the years, especially if she’s a member of the President’s club.

If you have to do so, take some test taking classes and get that CR score up - WAY up.

I assumed you are male which will definitely count in your favor since Hillsdale is heavily laden with women now.

Get that SAT up, and do go, SOON, for the interview (only 2-3 hours from Cleveland so no biggie travel-wise). Have a strong, cordial, relationship with your admissions counselor.
