<p>Now my main problem is my freshmen year grades. I really messed up and am worried they will ruin my application. </p>

<p>I would say you are a fairly average applicant for Duke. You have solid academic stats. But nothing stands out as super impressive in your extracurriculars, except for maybe debate nationals. So I would say that you have a shot, but I wouldn’t expect anything. I would say it is a low reach/reach.</p>

<p>I would agree with the post above…you have impressive stats but so does everyone else applying. Try and focus extra hard on your top ECs before you submit an application since nothing is out of the ordinary. So I would make Duke a reach.

<p>Pretty solid. work on those essays though cause those are what will get you into duke. I was a lot like you, and I got into duke by spending hours on my essays highlighting my strange qualities :)</p>
