<p>Now my main problem is my freshmen year grades. I really messed up and am worried they will ruin my application. </p>

<p>Why don’t you just create one chance thread and list the schools that you want to have chanced? You have been posting the same “chance me” thread in multiple college forums.</p>

<p>As long as you show that you’ve improved a lot (which is evident by the plethora of A’s), then you’re pretty much set for any college you are thinking of. Just focus on the essay, and you’ll be fine.</p>
<p>Yeah, if this person is rejected or waitlisted, it’s because some schools may be looking for a different type of student (or yield protecting. Okay, actually, a person with a 2250-2300+ is most likely to be yield protected by some schools) and not really stats. Statistically qualified for several/most places, sure.</p>

<p>40 points on the SAT is not going to make the difference for you. You have set yourself up really nicely to get into Emory. However, make sure you write a great essay. Really spend your time on the essay because that will make your application golden. A lot Kids with grades and scores lower than you have gotten into Emory, but there are also a lot kids with better stats. Make yourself standout with your essay.</p>
<p>You are near the top quarter of enrolled students, so you should get in if Emory likes you, so no, that isn’t going to help at this point for Emory (It may help for other schools, but I’m sure getting 2300+ would be more worthwhile for those. However, at that point, Emory may expect you to apply to the scholars program if you are truly interested. If you don’t think you’ll get that, don’t even bother and write the best essays you can for such places, and kill interviews if they require or offer them to you). At this point, I imagine that Emory actually starts scrutinizing more heavily as a student approaches the 75% of the last years admitted or enrolled students. I’m sure that it assumes and knows that most of such people don’t have it as a first or even second choice, so will look at essays of such regular decision candidates very closely. It doesn’t want to admit someone it feels doesn’t care and has no chance of yielding. I would say keep your scores, write awesome essays (if there are any optional essays, give it a shot as you may display some features admissions is looking for that year via the prompt). No one cares about the small amount of B’s you earned freshman year either. Emory is basically the only top 20 school that is not in the position where it can expect perfection from ideal applicants so much as really solid academic ability and some actual interest in coming (there may be a couple more that aren’t essentially expecting perfection, but still…). So far, you have demonstrate the former 2. Leave it to essays, visits, and other forms of contact to demonstrate the latter.</p>
