chance me?

WashU is my top choice but I can't help but feeling anxious about it. I have a 5.8 weighted GPA (with 6.0 being the highest possible) I've taken almost all honors/AP classes except for some graduation requirements I couldn't get around and all A's except for 3 semester grades freshman year.

ACT: 35
SAT II: Bio 760, MathII 800, Spanish 800
AP classes I've taken: european history, us history, spanish, english lang, bio, calc bc, 5s in all so far except for english lang which was a 4. right now i'm taking chem, stats, gov, macroeconomics, and english lit

my ECs are a bit sparse and none of them are exceptionally meaningful:
math team all for years
cosmo club 10-12 (might be pres or vp this year)
model un 11-12
key club 10 only
volunteering at barn that does riding for disabled kids this year, since may
just started working at kumon, only about four hours a week

other stuff:
nhs
national spanish honors society
national merit semifinalist

my recommendation letters should be pretty good but i expect to struggle with the essays. also i'm a girl and white, both parents immigrants and doctors, w/ a sister one year younger than me. i know my test scores and grades are good, but otherwise i'm pretty uninvolved and that worries me.

what are my chances of getting in, regular decision, but also for a merit scholarship? right now i'm not planning on ED since i might get some pretty good scholarships from other schools. i'm also planning on going premed if that matters. thanks!!

With scores and grades like that, you’ll always have a decent shot, even with meh ECs, essays, recs. I really don’t know what to say besides that, other than that I recommend showing interest.

Your stats look great, but I agree with you that your extracurricular Activities might not be as impressive as others that you see on these forums. If you’re really interested in WUSTL, I definitely recommend going to an information session or even interviewing on campus if you’re able to. As far as merit scholarships go, those are even more competitive than admission to the institution. However, your stats are definitely at the higher-end that you would probably be a serious contender. Good luck!
