What UC's do you guys think i have a good chance of getting into with my stats?

Residency in Cal.: Yes

I'm primarily focusing on UCB & UCLA (and USC as well but wrong thread :P) .

and the rest of UC schools if I don't get accepted to either B or LA.

Thanks!

Well, according to UCLA’s transfer profile the average GPA of a 3.7, so as long as you keep up your grades and write decent personal statements, I would think you would have a good chance? I’m not too familiar with UCB but I imagine you would have a good shot there as well. Other than that, you could probably get into all of the other UC’s. Have you completed one transferrable math yet? Also, what is your Major GPA?

Well primarily speaking of UCB & UCLA, major pre-requirements are 1 Intro Socio & 1 Intro Stat. I’ve completed Intro Socio with A (4.0), but I haven’t done Intro Stat (will be completing in spring 14’). Completing the Intro Stat will complete 1 transferrable math as well, which completes IGETC and Major pre-requirements.

To most people, I say that taking math in the spring won’t really matter if you’re a 3.8+ student. However, since you’re a sociology major and the whole subject revolves around statistics, it might be more problamatic for you. You’re likely in at UCLA and out at Berkeley. That’s just my opinion so I would take it with a grain of salt. Sociology at Berkeley is supposed to be very competative and the fact you’re missing a major pre-req and only taken one class could bite ya in the butt! Hopefully not though! KILL THE PS STATEMENTS!

I would say that it is a tad bit risky to take math/major pre-req during spring, but not that bad. My friend also did that as a polisci major, which also requires stats as a major pre req. Your GPA is great and as long as your other pre reqs are completed, I’d say you have a fantastic chance.

BTW I am a current sociology major @ Cal, and I must say that it is pretty great here!

@kay, I don’t see Stats listed as a “major” pre-req for polisci on assist.org.

Honestly, I don’t mean to come off harsh but how do you only take one class in the subject you’re majoring in? Am I the only one that thinks this is going to come off as somewhat odd? Lol, I’ve taken more Sociology classes and I’m not even majoring in it. Maybe your JC doesn’t offer other Sociology classes?
