Hello, could ya'll chance me for UT?
I go to an in-state school and my class is very competitive
GPA: 3.9
Rank 10/125 (8%)
My ACT was low (20)
I took my SAT earlier in December and do not know my scores
I have 3 letters of recommendation. 1 from my counselor and 2 from former UT graduates
150+ hours of service
I did extracurricular sports for 3 years
member of NHS and a service club
Will graduate with 39 college hours
Have taken all honors courses throughout high school and am taking 1 AP calculus class
My essays should be well written.
I applied to the School of Undergraduate Studies

Your situation is very complicated.

You are NOT an auto admit (for Fall 2014 it has to be top 7%, and you are top 8%)

Students with ACT 20 are usually NOT considered college ready and need remedial classes.

You have to get your SAT scores and see if you did better on SAT test.

I really don’t know what to say about 39 college credits and ACT 20.

Ya ya: I know. It was a very bad test day. I hope my sat scores are better. I talked to the admissions counselor and he said that they look at scores, but it does not solely determine your admittance. Is this somewhat true if I am basically taking all college courses my senior year and applied to the school of undergraduate studies?

And I also applied very early, if that helps!

What is your PSAT score from 11th grade?

@Ya Ya Could you chance me also for UT Austin? just click my member name and you should see it… thanks

To be honest, you are going to HAVE to take another standardized test if you want to have a good chance at UT. Your rank is good ( i guess… you have a small class size)… in that case… if it’s possible see if you can increase your rank. That seems like the best bet… because then you can jump into the “auto category” for UT.
