chance me!

Hey all, I was wondering if you guys could chance me? I go to SMC and applied as gender/women's studies to uci ucla and ucsb (TAG) also I have:
-3.25gpa
-non impacted major
-excellent personal statement about my struggle with diabetes
-have done research
-kinda young for a transfer student

Thank you! =) I know my gpa is on the low side but I want to know if good PS and extracurriculars mean anything in the admissions process

Here is a really helpful Link for the UCLA profile of admitted students. If you haven’t seen it already take a look at it

[Profile of Admitted Transfer Students by Major, Fall 2013 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof13_mjr.htm)

For your major the average admitted GPA was a 3.45. So your 3.25 falls slightly below that, but they admitted almost 70% of applicants to that major. I think you have a good shot at most of these schools and a guarantee at UCSB since you tagged. UCLA is a tough one since they place a heavier emphasis on academics than they do on the PS and EC’s. I sure you will get into most schools you applied too.

Good Luck

Thank you so much! And yes Ive seen those statistics its just tough to tell where I stand given that my major is a common alt major for TAP applicants and if they are included in these stats, but SB and Irvine are great schools too. Thanks a bunch and good luck to you as well!

I think you have a good chance for both UC Santa Barbara and UC Irvine. A lot of friends/students at my CC got in to UCI with that range of GPA. As for UCLA, I’m not entirely sure…if you had TAP, I would say definitely but it might be a reach. Best of luck!

@ocnative Thanks! I totally agree, that seems to be the consensus from what I’ve seen as well, excited to find out! Best of luck to you

Hey funkymonkey! I go to SMC too and applied to UCLA as a gender studies major. Good luck, hope you get in!
