Chance me?

I finally gave in and made one of these threads now that I've submitted a bunch of applications (and still have some more to do by 1/15), haha. Please chance me (sorry for the super long post)! Thank you!

SAT I: 2180; 730 CR, 770 W, 680 M (retaking on 1/25, I know I can get a better M and CR score; mainly timing issues with M section)
SAT II: 780 USH, 740 Chem
Grades: All A’s with a few A+’s and A-'s
Course rigor: Toughest in the school. 9 APs total, all non-AP classes are honors (AP Euro sophomore year, AP Lang + APUSH + AP Calc AB + AP Chem junior year, AP Lit + AP Human Geo + AP Calc BC + AP Bio senior year) Also wanted to take AP Physics this year, but they couldn’t fit in Honors Physics last year, and I couldn’t find a summer class.
School type: Private; originally went a much larger public school freshman year but transferred out because I wanted a different atmosphere (I did really well there too, ranked about 6/400-something)
Demographics: White female, household income ~40k
Prospective major: Depending on the school, chemical/biomedical engineering or neuroscience, hoping to minor in a language

EC’s:
Choir/music stuff -
- Member of an out-of-school choir (highest-level ensembles; select choir, chamber choir, tour choir, small solo groups, interned at their summer camp for 50 hours) 3 yrs
- Member of another out-of-school choir (highest-level ensemble) 2 yrs [also was a member for many years when I was younger]
- Piano lessons through the above choir (free scholarship program) [same as above]
- Member of school choirs, including a select small winter ensemble 3 yrs
- All State Chorus 3 yrs

Journalism stuff -
- Co-editor of school newspaper, representative on a local radio station 3 yrs
- Co-editor of school yearbook 3 yrs
- Managing Editor of school literary magazine 2 yrs
[Also applied to a free competitive 4-week journalism program with a regional newspaper, hopefully I get in]

STEM stuff -
- Co-captain of math league team 3 yrs
- Member of Science Olympiad 3 yrs
- Member of technology and robotics club (new this year)
- Co-captain of academic bowl team, 3 yrs

Theatre stuff -
Stage crew 1 yr, school one-act plays 2 yrs, out-of-school organization 1 yr
[Looking for more opportunities, too; basically found out last year that I really love acting]

Work experience: Research internship through a competitive free program summer before senior year (worked in a microbiology lab, received a generous stipend), worked at a tutoring center for three months (employer had to cut down on staff)

Athletics: JV field hockey 2 yrs (had to quit to work at the tutoring center mentioned above), school dance team this year
[Hoping to try out a spring sport.]

Volunteering: 50 hrs. at food pantry, 50 hrs interning at summer camp mentioned above, 55+ hrs at local library, peer tutoring at school/a local organization/etc. (mostly math tutoring), volunteering at a chiropractor’s office

Awards/honors: AP Scholar with Distinction, National Honor Society, research program (mentioned above), school’s highest honor roll every semester, school departmental honors, All-State Chorus 3 yrs, Science Olympiad state medalist, Congressional Youth Conference, Live Poets Society of NJ Topical Winner, placed in national French competition, etc.

Recommendations: My counselor and I are really close, so that rec should be really good. Same goes for my two teacher recs (math teacher I’ve had for 3 years and AP Bio teacher)

Essays: I’m a pretty good writer. They’re really sincere and convey my personality and interests, some supplements ended up quirkier than others. Really showed that I value and thrive in the whole smaller school atmosphere.

I'm applying to:
Barnard
Cornell
Emory
Franklin and Marshall
Harvey Mudd
Johns Hopkins
Lafayette
Pomona
Princeton
Rice
Swarthmore
William & Mary
Penn
URichmond
UVA
UMD
Vanderbilt
WUSTL

Also applying to my state flagship, so don't worry. :P

I think you have pretty good chances at all of these institutions. Cornell and JHU are mid-reaches though I’d say. Best of luck!

Bumpumpumpump.

Can anyone help me out? :stuck_out_tongue: I should’ve come up with a better thread title, but it won’t let me edit it…

Seems like you are a well rounded student and you have a good chance for those colleges. Good luck!
