My older sister is diagnosed with Down Syndrome, influencing my immense passion for Special Needs Programs. I am well-liked among my peers as well as my teachers (already have two teachers who asked to write my letter of Rec). My intended major is biomedical engineering.

Thanks and please give me an honest opinion.

Definitely get your test scores up and get more leadership positions if you really want to get into those dream schools. Having anything under 2200 is a definite downer to your application.

Try to get your test scores up! At least a 2000 preferably something 2200 or above, but taking the ACT is a great idea because it definitely works better for some people. Other than that looking good, hope you get in!

Try to get 2100+ on the SAT or even try the ACT if you are struggling with the SAT because many people who have trouble with the SAT end up doing well on the ACT. Apart from that, I think you are a very competitive applicant  Good luck!

If you don’t mind, can you please chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1616663-please-chance-me-i-ll-chance-back.html#latest

agree with others, your ECs are great but your SAT is way too low for Brown, Columbia, Harvard, etc. If you get it to 2200+ your chances are much better. At your current state, Cal Tech IS NOT a safety (dunno where you got that) it’s more like a reach. also, take SAT IIs

If you get your testing up I would say you have a great shot for USC and UCLA (if you are in state). Cal Tech is not a safety!!! It has an 11% acceptance rate. Do not rely on that for your safety. I think you will get into UCI or UCSD though.

Brown, Columbia, and Harvard are all nearly impossible to get into. I encourage you to apply (maybe not to all 3 if money is tight), but as I’m sure you know they are super tough. Applying ED may help but then again, it may be better to apply ED to somewhere more probable. Applying ED to a school where ED makes a big difference (I can think of Duke and WashU off the top of my head) may be more worthwhile. You must get 2100+ to be considered for any of these schools, I think.

Other schools to apply to:
UC Berkeley
Vanderbilt
UMich
UNC Chapel Hill
WashU
NYU
Boston College
Tufts
Stanford (Major reach, but you’re a girl interested in engineering and I’m sure they’d like that!)

umm, not sure if caltech is a safety school unless you have legacy. unless you get the sat score up, it’ll be hard for any of the ivy’s. pretty good match for ucla and usc.

Improve on your SAT score, and you’ll have a very fair chance at the Ivies.
