I am interested in the Graphic communication program, and I just had a few questions about my chances, tips, or any kind of recommendations you guys have.

so to start my unweighted cumulative GPA is 3.88 (4.0 weighted) I am currently taking 2 AP’s & 2 Honors classes & I will be taking a few more senior year.
I have not taken the SAT yet but I will in May, I took PSAT & got 1110 (CR & Math) I will be taking the ACT as well.
On top of that I’ve been doing swimming since freshman year & I will continue to do so during my senior year (2 years of JV 2 of varsity) & I’ve also been playing water polo since sophomore year. I started doing community service with a club in my HS (key club) & I’ve been a member of CSF (California scholarship federation) since last year.

what do you think my chances are (If I keep my GPA & improve my SAT a bit more)? also ANY kind of advice or TIP would be more than welcomed!
Thank you a lot!

Your chances seem pretty good. Cal Poly really looks for the GPA and SAT/ACT scores. They do no really look for extracurriculars. All they ask about your extracurriculars is how many hours a week you volunteer, how many hours a week you work and if that work is related to your major. Also when you apply to Cal Poly, you only compete with the people who apply to that same major. Cal Poly also awards “bonus points” if you take an extra science or math class.
I was accepted into Food Science with a 3.85 GPA and 1210/1600 on the SAT
I did not take any AP’s except for my senior year where I took two AP classes in math which I really believed helped me get in. Best of luck to you:) If it is really your top choice, I would also consider applying early decision since you find out in December and also if you get rejected early, you automatically roll on to regular. I also feel that they are more lenient towards the early decision students and you also get better housing choices.

Also forgot to mention
They love it if you take any college courses. I would take a college course at my local community college.
