Only 1 B in calc 1st semester, but A 2nd semester as well as 5 on AP exam

Senior Classes: AP Lit, MVC/DiffEq, AP Music Theory, Hon Physics, APES, Hon Orchestra, AppSci/Engineering

Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: XX
Citizenship: China (but U.S. permanent resident so I'm NOT applying international)
Major: Chemical(?) Engineering
Essays: Haven't written much, not the greatest thing ever, but nonetheless probably pretty decent

Schools: (Some recommendations for affordable safeties?)
GaTech (EA)
MIT (EA)
Vanderbilt (RD)
U of Maryland College Park (Priority)
JHU (RD)
CMU CIT (RD)
Cornell (RD)
Rice (maybe)
UVA (maybe)

chance me while I chance you- http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1670747-improving-chances.html#latest

MIT- high reach
GTech- match
Vandy,JHU,CMU,Cornell- reach (you will probably get into 1-2 of them)
Maryland- match (IDK what priority means sorry)
What is your state flagship? That might be a affordable safety.

@Lacoste That would be UMD, but I’d rather attend a private school.

If UMD is in state then it is a safety.

Your test scores and course load are very impressive! If you want to look close by, you could also look at Loyola Maryland for an affordable safety. I don’t know how impressive their departments are for Chemical Engineering but you would definitely get in and it’s affordable. Seems like you’re not looking for a Jesuit core curriculum though. I agree with Lacoste that out of your reaches you will most likely get into 1-2 of them.
Best of luck!

I feel like since I’m going into engineering, the schools I’m applying to are harder to get into since engineering schools tend to have higher stats than the school as a whole. Thoughts?

Your test scores are very respectable, and should put you in a competitive state for most of your schools, but is there any way you can take the ACT, that might help your admission, seeing that probably most other sudents have both the SAT and ACT. Your ethnicity won’t help you a ton, but seeing the rigorous coursework you took, you will be fine! How’d you do on your AP tests, because that might help if you can put in your application, “Not only did I have great test scores and credentials, but I made 3 5’s on my AP Tests.” Overall, MIT is a each, but its a reach for everyone who went there. The rest of your schools you should be admitted, with UMD being your safety, along with maybe loyola? Good Luck on everything!
