Hey I'm new to this and was wondering what you guys think are my chances in getting into UCSB with a 3.1-3.2 in either History or alternate major black studies and all pre reqs completed for history. I know it's a long shot, you can be brutally honest

Probably decent. That’s around the range of GPAs that I see many UCSB applicants getting admitted with, at least on this forum.

There’s probably more info on the web, but from a quick search on <a href=“Official UCSB 2014 Transfer Thread - UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1532573-official-ucsb-2014-transfer-thread.html shows that the lowest gpa that I see that got in is 3.6.

@Cayton that’s reassuring given the fact that most of the people that go on this forum are motivated students

@jonjon03 I don’t know dude I’ve glanced through that and already saw someone with a 3.15 get in with communication

You only need a 3.2 to TAG, but I’m guessing you’re a little bit under that right now? I think you have an alright shot, and I’m guessing neither of those majors are especially selective. Good luck.

-2013-
<a href=“**OFFICIAL 2013 Fall UCSB Transfer Decisions Thread** - UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1475211-official-2013-fall-ucsb-transfer-decisions-thread-p1.html

*Accepted! History major 3.8 gpa +. No tag. 2:30pm right now! Realeased early! Good luck y’all! Just back up for me. I got into ucsd so far

Decision: REJECTED
3.84 GPA, Cal community college transfer
History Major
All Major Prereqs Done with A’s
63 Semester Units by end of this semester

Waited to do Math requirement in Spring 2013. I think this is what got me rejected. Anyone else in a similar situation. I’m freaking out right now. Please tell me that this is just a weird rule that UCSB uses. The counselor from UCLA told me that they don’t care, as long as I have Math and English done by Spring 2013.

Good luck.

ADMITTED. holy ****.

These are posts I found on the 2013 thread when searching for History major and the lowest gpa I see is 3.24.
Again, for 2014 for history major I see the lowest being 3.6 gpa. It maybe true that someone got in with 3.15 gpa into communication major, but it is much more accurate to compare yourself to other history majors (your intended major). Being honest, at this point I would say that you have a chance, but definitely UCSB appears to be a “reach” school for you. With that in mind try to figure out if you can tag into UCSB or UCSC. Also, when I was keeping up with the UCSB transfer thread there seems to be persistent rumor that transfer had to finish all their math requirements prior to their spring semester.

Good Luck
