Chance me?

<p>This is a long-shot, but…</p>

AP's: World, USH, English Language, Biology--all 5's. This year, I'm taking Statistics, Gov/Pol, Macroeconomics, Spanish, and English Literature.
Academic achievements: Student of the Month 5 times (over 4 years), High Honor Roll (every quarter), National Merit Semifinalist, National Spanish Exam Award of Merit (2 times)</p>

B: Outside school:
Intern at a Holocaust museum for over a year, including summers. I've been involved in numerous projects, including an ongoing assignment where I interview survivors and gather information for their biographies on record.
Elected member of the Executive Committee at my local library. 10 teens are elected, and we are involved in coordinating events for general teen meetings.</p>

<p>Community service:
Nursing home volunteer (4 years, 250+ hours)
Library volunteer (Executive Committee and general volunteering)

<p>Various Awards:
Was a finalist in a selective competition given by a women's organization in my state. The contest awarded 2 girls an $1000 grant to execute a community service project in their community.
Won multiple (but local) photography and writing contests.</p>

<p>Summer Activities:
9th- YMCA CIT (150 hrs); nursing home volunteer
10th- selected for a summer-long photography intensive; nursing home volunteer; read books to children once a week.
11th-In addition to continuing my work at the nursing home, I was selected as 1 of 10 interns for a congressional campaign (selective program). High profile Democratic candidate. </p>

<p>Extra Information:
I have a strong passion for journalism, photography, and politics. I'm planning to major in international relations and would either like to go into journalism (foreign correspondence!!!) or foreign policy. </p>

<p>Also, I know this is the Yale forum, but if you could chance me on Georgetown's School of Foreign Service/Brown, that would be spectacular. :)</p>

It’s about MIT, but holds true as well for Yale. </p>

<p>The good/bad news is that you have a roughly 7% chance of being accepted. You sound like a wonderful candidate, as will the vast majority of those who are not not accepted. Recommendations and essays will probably determine the outcome, and we are not the people reading those. </p>

<p>Good luck. Be sure to give serious thought to, and apply to, a wide range of schools that you would be a fit for. </p>
