Gender: Male
Race: Caucasian
ACT:34
GPA: 3.92 uw, 4.15w
Extra Curricular:
-Band member for 4 years, section leader for three
-Marching band member for 2 years
-Member of my schools DECA chapter for three years, qualified for state twice, placed 5th at state last year. Am currently an officer of my school's chapter. DECA is a business club and I'm applying with an intended major of accounting so I'm hoping this will especially help me with the preapproval thing for mendoza
-Started working a part time job for around 10-15 hours a week january of my junior year, still working at the same job
- Have gone on two mission trips, both 1 week long. I went to north dakota the summer after my sophomore year and I went to oklahoma this past summer
-Participated in leadership programs at a summer camp I went to the summers after my freshman and sophomore year. This past year I went back to the camp for two weeks as a sort of internship where I helped work in the kitchen and also acted as a co counselor for a group of younger campers
-I did track and field my freshman year

Other
-feeling good about my "why notre dame" essay, still unsure on the other two. I'm applying regular action though so I still have time
-I'm getting my letter of rec from my AP english teacher I had last year. She liked me a lot and I got a 4 on the test so it should be pretty good
-I have a good amount of family history with notre dame, my mom and uncle both went there (mom graduated in '90), my cousin graduated from their last may and is now in their graduate school, and my uncle works there, I believe he works in financing for the athletic department or something along those lines

Sorry for any errors, formatting or otherwise, I just threw this together really quickly out of curiosity.

You have a decent shot with your test scores and alumni connections. Try to make something of your uncle working there.

How many AP/Honors classes have you taken? Rigor is key. The essays will be vital, especially the other 2. Try to get someone that understands ND well to review them.

Freshman Year: Bio honors and English Honors
Sophomore: English 2 Honors
Junior: AP English, AP US history
Senior: AP bio, english 4 honors, precalc honors

I understand legacy plays a big part in Notre Dames admissions process. Should I bother mentioning my mom/uncle/cousin anywhere outside of the common app section that asks if I have any relatives that went/work there?

Not really: unless you work it into a supplemental essay, there’s really no need to mention it again. While it can be done in an essay, I’m sure the topic is hugely overdone and would start pitting the syntax of your essay against others instead of the context: if you want to, go for it, but I think just putting it in it’s section is enough

I just want to say that your resume is very similar to mine! I might be an indication for you, since I’m REA.
