Recs should be pretty good

More than anything, I think my rank and UW GPA are bringing me down. Is there any way to counteract this?

Forgot to add that I got the AP Scholar Award sophomore year (with 3 AP’s) and AP Scholar with Distinction Award junior year (with 5 AP’s) and am planning to major in Biology with a minor in Political Science

I definitely think you have a chance. Though I know that W&M admits about 25% OOS and even less for girls. I read an article about it in the W&M student run newspaper

Your standardized testing and extracurriculars are really strong - but yeah, your class rank might make things difficult for you, depending on your school. As mentioned, OOS female is a particularly tough admisssions group.

If feasible, ED will make you more competitive. But whether you go that route or not, look for a way to “stand out” - the essay, of course, is very important, and give some thought to a creative supplemental submission. And with your background in music and dance, consider a Fine Arts submission, if you think your skill level fits the bill.
