What kind of community service and how many hours? How many seasons did you coach? How many hours did you read to small children?

Overall your application would be good, but the quantity of EC would give us a better idea. I also think that applying as a minority will help your chances as GW really likes prides itself in its student body diversity.

Good luck!

Dear NHuffer
thanks! My common app gives the hour calculation- about 3 hrs a week all in on community service. On top 2 season varsity athlete.

Do you think ED helps your chances?

And I was curious on the University Honors Program. Is it hard to get into?

Yes, ED helps your chances. Schools in general want to give the option to attend to someone that really wants to go. ED is committing to a school saying if given the chance, you’ll choose them over everyone else. I don’t really know how much it’d help as I’m sure it’s dependent on the year and number of applications.

I don’t have any experience with the Honors program, sorry. I’ve heard from plenty of sources, however, that it is, in fact, a difficult course to get into. Perhaps someone else with some experience will chime-in. If not, you can always try to search the ‘George Washington’ forum for “honors program” and see what you can find.
