Ok, so I’ve already applied to all of these schools, but I’m a person who likes to speculate a lot and would be curious to see what you guys think my are chances are at these schools. Yes, some of them are obvious reaches, but I figured I might as well try.
Recs: I’d be lying if I said all my teachers like me, but the ones I did pick should write really strong ones.
EC’s: Decent, mostly focused on music (I go to a performing arts high school). Also did well as a sports writer.
Essays: Very good, but I’m assuming most applicants wrote equally good ones
GPA: Approx. UW: 3.7 W: 4.3
Class rank: 15/approx. 170
SAT superstore: 2110 CR: 730, M: 660, W: 720 (I’ve made it clear I want to enter liberal arts so hopefully the math score doesn’t kill me)
SAT II’s: US History 760, Lit 660
AP: 5s- English Comp, US History, World History/ 4s- Spanish Language
Taking 4 APs senior year, including Bio and Calc
Location: Texas
Income bracket: Upper middle class
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: White
Already accepted to UT-Austin and Fordham.
Applying to (in no particular order):
Williams College (legacy)
Harvard University (legacy)
University of Pennsylvania (both paternal grandparents attended- must mean something because it was on app)
Bowdoin College
Colby College
Bates College
Haverford College
College of the Holy Cross (MA)
Tufts University
Decent ECs(I guess, you only list two) wont help with Harvard and Williams style schools. The weak courseload wont help either. SAT’s are good for most of the schools and even in the middle 50% for H.
Williams College: High Match/Low Reach
Harvard University: High Reach
University of Pennsylvania: Reach
Bowdoin College: Match
Colby College: Match
Bates College: Match
Haverford College: High Match/Low Reach
College of the Holy Cross (MA): Low Match
Tufts University: Match/Low Reach
Good luck!

Yeah I didn’t really care to go into detail about my EC’s but when I said music I just meant I’m proficient on several instruments and a paid singer, I’ve also done some volunteering during the summers, etc. Basically I tried to save the space of writing everything else to say my EC’s are fine but by no means anything special. I know it might be hard to tell that since I didn’t write them all out, but that’s the feedback I’ve gotten from several people knowledgeable about the process. I just hope music serves as some kind of a hook.
Bowdoin is a reach, not a match.
Williams College: Low Reach

Does being from Texas really help that much when applying to Maine schools?
Williams College: idk much so can’t say sorry
Harvard University: High Reach (for everyone, but since you’re a legacy…)
University of Pennsylvania: Reach (legacy is very important for UPenn I’ve heard)
