Hi all, wondering if you could chance me for an arabic major at georgetown.
Junior at a pretty well known private school. 97.8 GPA, SATs 2050 ACTs 31.
EC:
Founder/ President of Young Republicans
Model congress - probable leadership role next year
Arabic club - probable leadership role next year
Member of the presidents circle - work for the advancement of the student body at my school
Assistant campaign manager for political candidate in my town
Leader of team involvement committee for Relay for Life- raising over 250,000 dollars
Community Service
Service trip to Peru
Relay for Life 150+ hours
Making food for soup kitchen
Work two jobs - 1 in the summer 1 in the winter
Currently am in Arabic 3 with a 98 average, will continue with that into my senior year.
I also plan on dual majoring in government. Any help would be great! Thanks
@gome123 Hey your ECs look awesome, and that’s a stellar GPA!!! Write a genuine personal essay, do plenty of research for the school specific essay (for Georgetown College), and maybe talk about Arabic club for the extracurricular essay—that’s unique!! Raising your ACT or SAT up would probably help, but you’re a junior, so you have time.
@gome123 If you can raise your ACT or SAT up some, then yes!
But then again, I’m not an admissions officer, and I don’t really know you. All I know is what you’ve provided in your original post. You could have really unique personal qualities, amazing recommendations, and killer essays that might make improving your score unnecessary. With that said though, a 31 or 2050 is still at the bottom of the range, and it would be in your best interest to raise it if possible. Maybe do some prep and take the SAT in May and/or October. Oh and Georgetown doesn’t look at the writing section, so you would only need to consider CR and Math
