Chance me! :)

Hi everyone! New account cause I wanted to stop being a lurker. So I’m a high school junior planning to major in design media/ digital arts, I moved to the US after my freshman year in Canada, so never had the chance to step on the honors path early. Consequently, the differences in curriculum and teaching habits had me struggling immensely my sophomore year and therefore my grades weren’t great, but they’re getting better.

Because I’m planning to major in an artsy field, I’m hoping my bad GPA won’t kick me completely out of the league. What are my chances of getting into universities such as UCLA, USC, NYU, UC San Diego, Georgia Tech, Brooklyn College, and RPI?

What state do you live in? If you’re from California, UCLA, USC and USCD are REALLY competitive.

Otherwise I’d say you have a unique perspective and have a decent chance at those schools.

I currently live in California, and yeah I’m mostly depending on my portfolio/essays to get me in if they’re good enough.

OK; I think you have good chances. Just be aware how outrageously competitive UCLA and UCSD are for in-state admits.
