Chance Me?

So I’m currently a junior and ranked second in my highschool and there’s a good chance that I’ll be valedictorian. By the time I graduate I will have taken 15 AP classes and two college classes (Multivariable Calculus and Advanced French). My ACT is a 34, my SAT is a 2250, and I’m expecting high 700 scores on both the Physics and Math II subject tests. I qualified for the National Merit Scholarship and expect to be at least a Commended Scholar. I play chess competitively, qualified and plan to attend the 2015 World Youth Chess Championships, I’m ranked seventh in the list of female chess players in my state, and have won numerous other awards. I’m a member of a chess club outisde of my school and have coached kids for the past two years. Additionally, I’m a member of my church youth group and was elected vice-president, and I also participated in a bible study competition where my team placed near the top. I’m a member of my school’s National Honors Society and volunteer regularly at a local organization that fights childhood hunger where I was selected for the youth action board. I also did Junior Varsity Track for a year and participated in choir for two years. If it helps, I’m fluent in four languages as well. What can I do to improve my resume and what are my chances for Dartmouth, Columbia, and Princeton?

Only thing you could do would be to raise your SAT. Your SAT is excellent, but still is low for an unhooked applicant to the IVY league. I would honestly shoot for a 2350, just because the Ivies are so selective. Good luck

Ok, thanks! I was planning to retake it in October to raise my score.

I agree with SternBusiness, your SAT scores (although pretty high), seem to be your largest flaw.

I don’t think your scores are an issue, it definitely won’t be the reason they reject you. I suggest spending time on your essays instead because they can truly make or break an application. I think you have a great chance though, good luck!

I would try to get your SAT up a little, but based on your stats and ECs it shouldn’t make or break it for you. You have a great chance, but unfortunately all of those school can be very unpredictable because they are so selective. Good luck though! I hope it all works out.
