I just started my college search and I have no idea where to start. Any suggestions?
Home State? How much can you and your family afford? Intended major? Large school/small? Urban/Rural? Public/Private? I need of merit and/or financial aid?
Home state is California. About 20,000. No intended major. I dont really care about any specifics from the school. And yes we will be having financial aid.
If you’re that clueless, I would suggest going on a college match website. There’s many out there. With the lack of specifics you’re giving, it’s so difficult for us to give you an accurate assessment.
Heck, there’s a college match tool here on CC, but as I said, there’s countless others. Just play around with them and see which one you feel gives the best fit.
Since you are a California resident, you have many options. Cal States will cost around $20K/year which includes tuition/room/board. You have 23 campuses to choose from, but I would consider SDSU/Cal Poly SLO/CSULB and CSUF.
The UC’s will cost around $30K/year for tuition/room/board and with your Stats, you should consider UCR/UCSC/UCI/UCSB/UCD.
You need to calculate your UC/CSU GPA: http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Both Cal States and UC’s have huge variety of majors, so this will give you an more of an opportunity to explore your areas of interest and decide upon a course of study.
If you qualify for financial aid, then these costs will be lower. Good Luck
