Chance me?

Hi, I am going to be a senior. Please chance me for USC, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Davis, UCSD, and Cal Poly SLO. I hope to major is something biology/psychology related. I live in California.

GPA: 4.22W/3.89UW/4.16UC

Standardized Testing:
ACT: 33 (going to retake)
APs: Euro (3), Chemistry (4), English Language/Composition (4), Psychology (5), Spanish Language/Culture (5), Biology (planned), Calculus AB (planned), Microeconomics (planned), Statistics (planned)
SAT Subject Tests: Spanish (700), Math II (680), Chemistry (690)

Extracurriculars:

  • Red Cross (9-12) - active member

Volunteering (roughly 500 hours total by the time I apply):

  • Animal Shelter (10-12)
  • MedShare (10-12): sorting and packaging surplus medical supplies (collected from local hospitals) to send to third world countries

  • Tutoring (11-12): helped elementary/middle schoolers with their homework
  • Tutoring (12): going to help the English Language teacher on campus to tutor English-learning high school students in various subjects

Great grades, good score! I don’t think you really need to retake the ACT…your score isn’t holding you back. UCB’s 75th percentile ACT is 34; you’re not too far off. Unless you think you can get a high score in a certain section and do tons of prep, but don’t stress yourself out. Good courseload, decent SAT IIs! I think your EC’s are perfect for a bio major, since HOSA, MedShare, Red Cross are all medical related. You show devotion and dedication to your ECs and I think you would have some good essay material!

USC- high match/low reach
UCB- mid reach
UCLA- low/mid reach
UCSD, UCD- high match, UCSD should be just a regular match even
Cal Poly- it’s a lot harder for science majors here, so if you apply bio, I’d say a low reach at least

Apply to a safety, maybe another match, and you’re set!

@LushLillies Thanks!
