Thanks in advance!
It looks like you have a good shot. I would say it’s a high match school for you. Not quite a safety, but a betting person would certainly bet on acceptance. Best of luck!
@PengsPhils I think you mean low match which in CC parlance is just above a safety. I would agree that the OP will most likely be accepted but as last year’s posted results showed Northeastern should not be considered a safety by anyone.
Thanks guys! So even without Computer Science ECs, do you think I could still get into the CCIS?
Officially, no college in NEU has any different admissions statistics. There is some debate to if they have large discrepancies, but overall your EC’s seem fine. Math club is practically CS related.
TomSr is right: I meant low match.
All admissions are handled by the admissions department and the colleges have no say in the matter. They also claim officially that’s there’s no difference in admissions stats between colleges, so you should apply to the one you want. How realistic is this official stance? Hard to say.
But if you decide not to apply to CCIS, it’s usually very easy to change majors and you would likely have no problem switching in. Also, from my experience as a TA to the intro CS class, there are lots of people who come in without programming backgrounds.
Sorry guys, one final thing: I’m from MA, so how much does that help/hurt my chances?
Some say it hurts your chances a bit because they’re really trying to be a national University and pull from all over the country. But there’s nothing you can do about it, and the effect is small, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
