Chance Me

I am an out of state student from Minnesota

Act: 30
GPA: 3.54 Unweighted My school has a higher grading scale than most schools for example a 95% is an A and a 92% is a B
Close family members died which took an affect on my freshman year grades which I wrote about in the App.

AP Classes: 4 AP’s taken including senior year
Honors Classes: Around 4 or 5 taken
Extracurriculars: 4 Years of Varsity Basketball(Captain), National Honors Society, Business Club(President) , Math Club, Robotics, 2 years of Football, 2 years of Track(Captain),

Volunteer: Over 50 hours

Work Experience: Work in the summer everyday for at least 3 hours

UC’s have their own way of calculating their GPA. http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Only AP/IB or DE courses count for the extra 8 semesters of Honors points. Freshman year grades are not included in the GPA calculation.

Are you able to afford the OOS costs at UCSD? $55K/year with little to no financial aid.
HS course rigor looks light with only 4 AP classes, but if your school does not offer many, then you will not be penalized.

You want to have a UC GPA above a 4.0 for the best chances.

Right now, UCSD looks like a High match/Low reach.

UC GPA 3.8

UCSD with a UC GPA of 3.8 would be a Low Reach.
