Chance me

Hey everyone, it’d be really helpful for me if you could chance me for Cal Poly. BME is my primary major selection and Materials Engineering is my second.

Using the Cal Poly method of taking the 9th-11th grades and 8 weighted semesters max, I calculated by GPA at approximately 3.83, which is on the low side of engineering admits.
I’ve taken the ACT twice, scoring a 33 (35/30/34/34) and a 34 (33/36/36/32).
I go to a highly competitive high school in CA and my courses are all maxed out.
On the application I wrote 1-5 hours per week of work and 16-20 hours per week of club/activities.

Based on all this information, I calculated an MCA score of 4623/5000. Do I have a good chance of getting into engineering at SLO? I know that admission is more competitive each year. Thank you!

I make it a habit of not “chancing” posters, but I’ll give you my two cents. BME is a VERY competitive admit at SLO, even more so than ME. I would think a 4623 will be on the bubble, maybe on the low end of the bubble. So, make sure you have a safety or if you are really interested in Materials (the better major in my opinion anyway), I’d make that your primary. SLO lists second choices, but will not roll to your second if you don’t get your first in CENG. They use that for majors that might not fill. Every one fills with primary applicants in the CENG. Good luck!
