Being from California will help probably. They take diversity into account (racial, geographical etc.). But yeah, they also love you showing interest, so visiting, keeping in touch with admissions counselor etc. will help. Good luck!
Yours “hooks” in order are being from LA, then comes being white and then a male. Since they know it is very difficult for you to visit and show “interest” your best hook then is applying ED11. If you don’t apply ED I think your chances go way down. I’ve known many students who have applied with much higher test scores and grades and were denied admission mainly because the Ad Dept generally believes you are not that serious about attending and don’t want to waste the admission. I believe they would rather accept a student where Lehigh is a reach school and most likely to attend if accepted. It is all about the numbers. Lehigh for the last decade is notorious for rejecting IVY league quality applicants as they don’t want to used as their “safe” school. Apply ED11 only if you truly want to join the Lehigh family.
