University of Michigan

Acceptances so far are Rutgers and NJIT
Major: Undecided for Engineering
Really good Essay and Ec’s, spend about 4 hours a week in engineering lab, I do research, and I placed highly in a robotics competition. I know a lot of programming languages and I’m a decent engineer, but the gpa is pretty low. What are my chances at these schools? thanks!
Your ACT is at Cornell’s 50th Percentile so that’s good, but your GPA is a bit low. Have you thought about going to community college first and transferring in?
My personal opinion on your chances are,
Penn state - Very Good
Stevens - Good
Stony Brook - Good
Cornell - Very Unlikely
Cooper Union - Unlikely
MIT - No Chance
RPI - Fair
Georgia Tech - Fair
University of Michigan - Fair
Northeastern (Deferred from early pool) - Unlikely
does being middle eastern help
I think you already know this, but your GPA is your weakness. That’s not something you can easily change. You should hope that your ECs and essays will outweigh this. If I’m being honest, I don’t think you will get into Cornell. However, you do have a great shot at some of the other schools that you applied to, and it’s great that you already have two acceptances under your belt. There’s not much you can do about your GPA, but I would really focus on making every other part of your application fantastic, as that’s really all that there is left to do at this point.
Yeah I got into NJIT’s honors program (to my surprise) so I just sorta stuck a bunch of reaches in here. Cornell engineering would be a dream come true though, any way i can maximize my chances?
