The 4.0 scale is the following:

A+=4.0
A=4.0
A-=3.7
B+=3.3
B=3.0
B-=2.7
C+=2.3
C=2.0
C-=1.7
D+=1.3
D=1.0
D-=0.7
E=0.0

To calculate your GPA, you multiply these weights by the number of credits for each class and add them up. Then divide by the total number of credits included in the calculation. Let’s do your first semester senior year for example:

AP Chemistry: 72, 1.00 C-
Physical Ed: 96, .25 A
AP Gov & Politics: 83, 1.00 B
AP Eco: 88, 1.00 B
AP English: 93, 1.00 A
AP Calc AB: 89, 1.00 B+
Intro to Social Science Research: 92, 1.00 A-

Your GPA on the 4.0 scale is: [(1.001.7)+(.254.0)+(1.003.0)+(1.003.0)+(1.004.0)+(1.003.3)+(1.00*3.7)]/(1.00+.25+1.00+1.00+1.00+1.00+1.00) = 3.152

Therefore, 3.152 is your GPA for just that semester. You can do this calculation yourself to include all of your grades.

The fact that your grades dropped this much is not a good sign. It can easily result in rejection from many of the top schools [which you have not yet be accepted to] that you applied to. For many top schools, one C grade or below without valid explanation generally means you are done.

I think the more competitive schools will be reaches, since a downward trend is usually a bad sign.
Good luck. Chance back?

Damn, it really sucks that it could end up in an immediate rejection. I knew I messed up… But I didn’t think it could completely screw my chances. I guess all I can do is wish for the best now.
