I have been wanting to go to UCLA since 7th grade, but for a while I gave up. I just got my SAT scores back and I scored a 1910, (1260 for math and reading), I have a 3.3 unweighted GPA but I have taken all honors courses available, and I’m from Vermont. I am a junior this year. I have played varsity sports all through high school. I have received some awards in science fairs in my school and for my state. What do you think my chances are? I know this is a very competetive school.
First, since you are OOS, can your family afford $55K/year with no financial aid for you to attend? If this is within budget, I would say just based on your posted stats that it is a Reach.
Average Fully Weighted GPA for admits last year was 4.41, Unweighted GPA 3.9 and average SAT score was 2062. Much will depend upon your intended major since many majors are very competitive and require higher than average stats to be accepted. I would work hard on getting that GPA up, do some test prep and retake SAT and keep up with your EC’s. At the end of Junior, prior to applying, come back and repost and updated stats.
Good Luck.
