Telling us your GPA is useless colleges only care about your class rank. It depends on where your GPA is when you apply. Good Luck! ACT is slightly low for University of Michigan
Admit: Michigan Technological University, Michigan State University, Indiana University, Ohio State University
Maybe: University of Michigan, Purdue University
These estimates are a bit conservative; at least one on the “maybe” list should accept you. Michigan is the most selective of them, but I assume that you are in state, so you should receive a benefit because of that, while your out-of-state status may hurt you slightly at Purdue, OSU, and IU (OSU and IU will be easy anyway because they are a bit less selective than Purdue).
I don’t know about the others, but OSU might be a low (very low) reach. Although it’s not very selective, it is getting harder. Average ACT is a 28, and average GPA is 3.7ish. You have a nice upward sloping trend though. Try to retake the ACT for an improvement of a few points. http://www.prepscholar.com/act/s/colleges/Ohio-State-University-ACT-scores-GPA
@themaster56 I actually disagree completely! Class rank isn’t as heavily weighted as GPA mixed with class rigor. Class rank only counts to the point to see if you are in the top 10% because many qualified students could come from a school where they’re all qualified, so the class rank could be low.
Anyways, I think you have a great shot at many of those school. The University of Michigan could be a reach however depending on your major. I’d try to bump up that ACT score a bit also!
@sneharams I’m planning on taking the ACT in June and aiming for a 30+.
I want to major in Biology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology (Depending on what they offer)
Being in state should help significantly for UM, but their average accepted cumulative gpa is around 3.8 I think and your ACT is a little low since their middle 50% is 29-32. I got into UM LSA as an out of state student with a 34 ACT, 3.92 unweighted gpa w/ 11APs, and somewhat limited EC’s but they did show commitment (5yrs varsity tennis and captain, medical research, etc) if that helps you at all.
