Chance me!

Hey there, high school senior here looking for some advice I guess you’d call it.
I’m waiting on decisions from UChicago, Northwestern and UMich

I applied for computer science to all the schools but I want to dual major that with business or economics wherever I end up going. Anyway here are my stats.

GPA UW: 3.85
GPA W: 5.00
Rank: 21/550ish
ACT: Superscore: 34, Reading: 33, Writing: 33, Science: 36, Math: 36
SAT: 2080 - Math: 800, Reading: 630, Writing: 650
Subject Tests: Math II: 800, Physics: 750, Chemistry: 790

Senior year courses:

EC’s
I own and operate my own computer repair business, website, FaceBook page and everything. I work with small businesses mostly.
JV Football 2 years
Varsity Lacrosse 1 year
NHS
President of science club
Nominated for a computer science scholarship out of all the kids in my school
Volunteered with the A-T Children’s Project
Some awards - e.g National AP Scholar but nothing too impressive

My recs were good as well. Also, never directly mentioned this but I am in an IB programme.
I also know essays are a big part, I really liked mine I thought they were pretty good, especially for UChicago. If anyone wants to read them over for feedback as well I would love that.

Anyway thank you in advance everyone and best of luck in your college journey!

I think you would stand a great chance at the three schools you listed, maybe UChicago slightly less so than the other two simply because it is more selective. At this point, it is very difficult to tell as a lot of it is down to chance. You don’t have too much longer to wait for decisions. Best of luck.

I know two other kids from my school that applied to UChicago and rank higher than me do you think that hurts me significantly or no?

It’s a leg up for them, but won’t hurt you at all. Your 21 is a teeny bit low, which matters a bit more than the fact that there are other UChicago applicants ranked above you. However, there are many, MANY other factors besides class rank, like ECs, essays, and standardized scores.

That makes me feel so much better haha, thank you so much!

@kreativekittens Your application looks really good. Your computer repair business shows a lot of leadership and computer capability. Could you please chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1859267-junior-needing-advice.html#latest
