Chance me?

Hi there, I’m a half-Russian, half-Pakistani female going to a public school on Long Island. I will be a junior next school year.

Could you chance me for the following colleges:
UPenn (early and regular)
UChicago (early and regular)
Johns Hopkins
Northwestern
NYU
Boston University (regular and/or med program?)
Sophie Davis
Stony Brook (med?)
Duke
Cornell

I really want to do a med program, but I know how competitive those are. If I can’t do a med program, I want to major in either Biophysics or any other Bio major.

Some info about me: I originally was born here in New York, but when I was 2, I moved to Dubai and ended up living there for 5 years…I also come from an interesting background (my parents have 2 completely different cultures, and I was thinking about writing my essay on how that shaped my personal experiences.) I am also fluent in Russian, Arabic, and taking French in school right now.

Weighted GPA (my school doesn’t do unweighted): 97.8/100 or ~3.8

All the AP classes I have taken or will take: AP World (4), APUSH, AP Psych, AP Bio, AP Physics 1, AP Lang, AP Lit, AP Physics 2, AP Chem, AP Gov, AP Eco, BC Calc, AP French

I am waiting on my SAT 2 scores right now.

I did not take the SAT yet, but I got a 1310 on the PSAT and around the 1350 range on practice SATS i have been doing (hopefully i can boost that to the 1400s after SAT prep courses.)
I haven’t done any practice ACTs yet either.

Clubs:
MUN (position)
Foreign Culture Club (position)
Girls Learn International
Science Honor Society
National Honor Society
Coding Club
In the process of starting my own Biomedical Club

I had a job as an oral surgery assistant during my freshman and sophomore years, but I stopped due to lack of time.
Now I am volunteering at March of Dimes, and trying to find a doctor to shadow .

Also, I am doing Cancer research in a lab over the summer at Stony Brook University. I will most likely be continuing this research next summer as well, and entering into Siemens, Intel, etc…

I’ve also placed in a few science competitions here and there, but nothing major yet.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!!

will chance back!!!

Okay, so there isn’t a “med program” for undergrad. You can be “pre-med” and then you pick any major you want. If you are interested in biology, do biology. Your major doesn’t really matter as long as you do your medical school prerequisites (general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, physics, etc.). Then the summer before your senior year of college you can apply to med school. I have heard of one or two programs that combine undergrad and med school, but those are very rare and stressful. I don’t recommend them!

I would definitely aim for 1500+ on your SAT to be competitive for most of those schools. I know that seems daunting, but you don’t want to be rejected just because of a silly test score. I took the ACT not the SAT. I found that I was able to raise my score significantly just through practice. I think the same goes for the SAT. So, just do as much practice as possible under timed conditions. Learn from your mistakes (why you miss questions) and develop your own strategies. It’s an achievement test more than a knowledge test. Get the content down and then it’s just about learning how the test works (how to answer with consistency/accuracy).

I actually think your ECs are decent, but you sound so nonchalant. Any EC is good but only if you are enthusiastic about it! If you really make them shine in your application and have some great experiences to share in your essays, I think you will be okay. Your culture/background is very interesting! (Especially the fact your trilingual.)

Keep working hard this year! You will be happy at any college if you have a good attitude.

UPenn - Maybe you have a chance if you apply early
UChicago - In my opinion, less of a chance then Penn
Johns Hopkins - Good chance
Northwestern - Not really sure
NYU - Really good chance
Boston University - Not sure
Sophie Davis - Not Sure
Stony Brook - Not sure
Duke - Good chance if ED
Cornell - Good Chance id ED

I agree with the above comment as long as you get your scores to 1400+
