I would be really grateful if someone would chance me for MIT and Berkeley. If you could also point out where m weaknesses are and what I could potentially improve senior year, that would be great. I’ve included my stats below.
Junior year schedule (and AP scores): AP Calculus AB (5), AP Chemistry (4), AP Biology (4), AP US History (5), AP English Language and Composition (5), Chinese 4, Anatomy and Physiology, Engineering
Sophomore year schedule (and AP scores): AP European History (4), Pre-Calculus, Honors Chemistry, Physics, Chinese 3, US History, Honors English, Health/Art II
GPA (weighted): 4.32
GPA (unweighted): 3.9
Intended major: Chemical Engineering
SAT: 1480
PSAT: 1480
Math II: 750
Biology M: 790
Extracurriculars:
Robotics (rookie team): Advanced to the world championship, made a world record, placed top third at worlds, placed third at regionals, was the software prime, hold the state record, only girl on the robotics team
Internship: Got an internship at a state university through a selective program studying complex fluids, will be coauthoring a paper, programmed an app that will replace expensive ($40,000-50,000) equipment
Programming: Programmed a game during the summer
STEM: 1 of 3 girls to take Engineering, 1 of 5 girls to sign up to take AP Physics, first person to qualify for a STEM award given at our high school in the history of the award’s existence, taken more AP classes then anyone in my grade, nearly maxed out the science courses at my high school, 1 of very few sophomores to take physics as a sophomore
Athletics: Varsity track and field since freshman year, placed 1st at districts for 3 events
Leadership: President of a local nonprofit youth council, responsible for helping organize a charity march each year, raised the most money for march two years running, only student member of the school district site council
Writing: Received an editor’s choice award for a piece submitted to a youth writing magazine, nominated for publication in an anthology of teen writing, attended the state writing festival two years in a row
Other: National honors society, Chinese national honors society
Essays: 1.) About getting involved in STEM despite not fitting in to stereotypes and being a bit intimidated at first. 2.) What I’ve learned from being a mixed race child from two immigrant parents
Recommendations: 1.) Calculus teacher talking about overcoming obstacles, 2.) English teacher about overcoming obstacles, 3.) Potentially Physics teacher about continuing research during the school year under his guidance, 4.) Potentially robotics coach or mentor for scientific research (they both really like me, though schools tend to discourage supplements)
Thanks again!
