Chance me?

Can anyone chance me for Duke or UNC Chapel Hill?

Hispanic M from Massachusetts.

GPA: 3.71 Unweighted. My school does not weight. My grades have been trending upward. Will probably graduate with a 3.8.

ACT: 34 Composite

SAT and SAT IIs: Taking them in the fall but the SAT IIs are my only real concern. I like the feel of the ACT even though I’ve only taken it once. It feels more natural than the PSAT and, I assume, the SAT.

9 AP Courses when I graduate. Have taken 4 exams. Passed all exams got As in all the courses. The 5 I’m taking this year are easy so far.

Academics: On a 1-10 scale, 10 being the hardest courses, I’m a 10. All Honors or AP courses. Top 10% of my class. Hard to tell if I’m lower than that because we don’t rank.
National Hispanic Recognition Program
National Honor Society

Sports:
Junior and Senior (2-year) Captain of Varsity Swim team, participated varsity all 4 years. I also did external club swimming for all 4 years year-round.
Ran Cross Country 2 years, 1 varsity.

ECs:
Civil Air Patrol - 4 years. CAP has entailed countless hours of community service in multiple situations.
French Club
Raised awareness about the opiate epidemic in my school and area, got support from my Congressman.
I went to Boys’ State MA this summer and was elected to numerous state and municipal positions.
I’ve been certified and working as a lifeguard throughout the entire year (school-year and summer) since Sophomore year.

Slim to none. Just being realistic

For UNC you seem to fall into their range. I always find it interesting to see student profiles of schools that don’t rank their students. Do you know the logic behind that practice at your school?

Yes @AFutureStudent seems to say “slim to none” on all kinds of people’s threads. i don’t think it’s slim to none at UNC; although it’s hard out of state there could be a chance, as you have a solid ACT score. Just work in essays a lot. Duke is hard for everyone. Maybe try to find some other state flagships, or some safeties!

I say slim to none due to A) you are out of state, B) low GPA for these schools in particular (out of staters are held to a higher standard)

@AFutureStudent out of state doesnt matter that much for private schools

UNC Chapel Hill is a public school @sneak12

I understand thank you, but duke isnt @AFutureStudent

I know @sneak12. I was talking about UNC.
